Krisarthak – The name has been formed after conjoining the word “Kri” which is taken from Krishi or farming and “Sarthak” which means meaningful or significant. Krisarthak is a program under Project APART, which aims to add significant value to the financial life of farmers by educating them about various financial tools that can liberate them from monetary woes and enhance their living standards.
Krisarthak is a program on financial education and counselling (FEC) of the farmers to be delivered digitally using ICT tools. Krisarthak (FEC) is one of the core components of the World Bank-funded Project APART (Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation). It aims at providing financial literacy to the members of Farmer producer companies (FPC) across 24 districts of Assam. The program’s objective is to enhance financial inclusion among two lakh fifty thousand farmers by teaching and spreading awareness about financial products and services. Its mission is to help farmers understand and manage their finances better so that they can achieve a growth trajectory in their personal financial state leading to the overall growth of the agriculture sector and making Krisarthak a key contributor to the economic growth of Assam.

Assam has always been an agrarian society with the majority of people engaged in agriculture and allied activities. However, issues like fragmented landholding, illiteracy, remoteness of villages and ignorance have been major obstacles to achieving financial inclusiveness in society.
